  1.                              Aplastic Anemia
  2. SYMPTOMS. With Aplastic Anemia there may be severe sore throat, brown
  3. pigmentation of the skin, blood seeping into the skin and any of the
  4. symptoms of Iron Deficiency Anemia but they will probably be more severe.
  5. There will also be less resistance to infections.
  6. CAUSES. Aplastic Anemia is caused by damage to the bone marrow. Damage to
  7. the bone marrow may be caused by some sulfa drugs, insecticides, gold
  8. compounds, nitrogen mustard, quinacrine, chloramphenicol, methotrexate and
  9. benzene. The red blood cells (which are needed for nutrition for the tissue)
  10. and white blood cells (which are needed to fight infections) are produced in
  11. the bone marrow.
  12. TREATMENT. The causes must be stopped and bone marrow restored to health.
  13. .A blood transfusion may be required.
  14. .You doctor may control infection with antibiotics.
